Frequently Asked Questions

Special events, showcases, socials and workshops are always announced first in our WhatsApp community before social media. It’s also a great place to connect with other students and instructors! To be added to the community, just ask via email or DM!

Not at all! Lots of our classes are suitable for complete beginners. The classes we have suitable for first time polers are:

  • Beginner Pole Tricks
  • Mixed Pole Tricks
  • Beginner Heels Technique
  • Beginner Pole Choreo (must attend at least 4 Tricks or Heels Technique classes first)
  • Stretch (no pole involved)
  • Chair Choreo (no pole involved)
  • Floorwork (no pole involved)

To learn more about what to expect in these classes visit our Class Guide

For tricks classes:

  • Plenty of water
  • Prefereably shorts and a tshirt (or sports bra) for skin grip on the pole

For choreo classes:

  • Plenty of water
  • Clothes you can move comfortably in, whether that’s a sparkly bikini or sweatpants!
  • Kneepads (we have one spare pair available)
  • Heels are always encouraged but not mandatory! Please only bring dance heels that are not worn outside. We have a few spare pairs of heels in size UK 5 & 6.

We recommend starting pole without grip aids if possible, so that you don’t become overly reliant on them! However, we understand that sometimes the sweaty hand struggle is real, and sometimes grip aids can be necessary so you can get the most out of your class! Our recommendations (available from PoleJunkie) are:

  • For sweaty hands/knees/thighs, Girlie Grip or Enviro Grip
  • For dry slippy hands, Sticky Molly Liquid Chalk (not available on PoleJunkie, visit Pole Soul)
  • For dry slippy knees, Polipole Sticky Mania Spray

We prefer students NOT to use Monkey Hands or iTAC grips as these tend to be overly sticky and do not clean off the poles easily, which make the poles difficult to use for other students.

The best brands to buy are Pleaser heels or Hella Heels. We have a few spare pairs of heels in size UK 5 & 6 if you want to try before you commit to your own pair. Another good option is to look on Depop or Vinted for cheaper second hand shoes. Our general advice for your first pair:

  • Boots are easier to start with than sandals as they offer more ankle support
  • Size down in sandals, wear your normal size in boots
  • Warm up plastic sandals with a hair dryer before wearing for the first time for comfort
  • We recommend 8 inch height, 7 inches will be easier to begin with but you’ll likely want to move up to 8’s before long so this saves you buying another pair!

Pole specific clothes are not necessary, for most classes you will only require bare legs and arms (occasionally skin on the waist and underarm for more advanced moves). However, if you are looking for recommendations:

We offer a 25% Student Discount and a 25% SWer discount. To claim your discount code get in touch with us via email or DM. Students will be asked to show a valid ID. Our SW discount operates on an honesty basis, no questions asked! These discounts are for pay as you go classes only, not for class passes as these are already at a discounted rate. All available passes can be found here

We need at least 48 hrs notice if you need to cancel a class booking for a refund. Transferring your booking to a different class requires 24 hrs notice.
This helps us better plan class content to suit the students who have booked in, and also allows enough notice for students on the waitlists to book in.

Yes, private lessons are offered by most instructors at the studio if you want to work on anything outside of class hours. To arrange a private, get in touch via email or DM to discuss pricing and availability.

Our highlight events are always our showcases, which run a few times a year. This is a chance for students to create their own routines and perforn for friends and family, followed by a celebratory night out.
We also have plenty of non-pole related social events outside of class! This includes pizza nights, beer gardens and other socials.
To be the first to know about whats happening next, get in touch via email or DM and ask to be added to our WhatsApp community!

Slink is a Social x Pole Choreo! You will learn a pole routine with the option to have drinks in between learning while you chat with other attendees. Once the dancing is done, stay around for more drinks and chat, and get some nice pictures.
Slink events will be announced first in our WhatsApp community, so email/DM us to join now so you don’t miss out!

Anyone 18 years or older is welcome to join! Pole is an amazing way to socialise and build strength at any age.

There is no right answer, and this will depend on your personal goals and your existing fitness level. If you have existing strength from other sports or from the gym, you will be more likely to be able to adjust to multiple classes a week. However pole can come with unique bruising and skin pain, so you may need more rest days at the start of your journey before you build skin tolerance and hand callouses. Don't worry, the skin burn and bruising gets better with time!

In general, the more classes per week you attend, the quicker you will progress, but everyone's journey and body is different, so don't compare yourself to anyone else and do what feels right for you.
